NEUROSCIENCES AND SWALLOWING REHABILITATION, FROGGYMOUTH: AN ANOETIC APPROACH

Froggymouth Froggy

FUNCTIONAL REHABILITATION BY ANOETIC APPROACH IS A NEUROSCIENTIFIC FUNCTIONAL PHILOSOPHY THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY ACTIVE PARTICIPATION FROM THE PATIENT.

IT WAS THEORIZED BY DR. PATRICK FELLUS, ORTHODONTIST SPECIALIST, AT THE ROBERT DEBRÉ HOSPITAL, IN PARIS, IN 2011.

Anoetic rehabilitation means an automation of the function, without consciousness. It is based on a modification of proprioception by inhibiting dysfunctional praxis.

It gave birth to the very first conceptions and understandings of how FROGGYMOUTH worked.

This new functional approach was synthesized in 2020 in this book.

It is aimed at all practitioners who wish to deepen their understanding of passive functional rehabilitation and strengthen their mastery of the FROGGYMOUTH tool.

LONG TIME THE PENANGUE OF A CORE OF HIGH-LEVEL SCIENTISTS, NEUROSCIENCE RESEARCH IS BEGINNING TO INVADE OUR DAILY LIFE. THIS NEW DATA IS BUILDING NEW LEARNING METHODS – NEUROEDUCATION, NEUROMARKETING – ALLOWING DECISION-MAKERS TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT STRATEGIES. IN OUR PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE, WE CAN BE PLEASURED TO HAVE ACCESS TO THIS WORK TO IMPROVE OUR PRACTICE AND INTERPRET THE CHANGES INDUCED BY OUR THERAPEUTIC DECISIONS.

Different causes may be at the origin of the maintenance of the dysfunction and the children concerned will require functional rehabilitation generally involving rehabilitators (speech therapists, respiratory physiotherapists) using top-down approaches.

FROGGYMOUTH is a device that, worn for fifteen minutes in front of a television screen, will force the child to discover a new method of swallowing using the bottom-up approach. Once the new program has been programmed, the practitioner will have to work on automation by controlling the lip posture and on inhibiting the old circuits. Functional MRI and a university clinical study validate this innovative approach to rehabilitation.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

DR. PATRICK FELLUS, IS A FRENCH ORTHODONTIST WHO HAS DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO FUNCTIONAL AND PEDIATRIC ORTHODONTICS.

TRAINED BY PROF. DEFFEZ AND PROF. DELAIRE, IT CONSTITUTES A MULTIDISCIPLINARY CARE UNIT AT THE ROBERT DEBRÉ UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL (PARIS), FOCUSING ON THE CAUSES OF CRANIO-FACIAL DEFORMATIONS.

HE PARTICIPATED IN THE CREATION OF IFUNA (INTERNATIONAL FUNCTIONAL ASSOCIATION), THEN CREATED THE SFOP (FRENCH SOCIETY OF PEDIATRIC ORTHODONTICS) OF WHICH HE BECAME HONORARY PRESIDENT. HE DID THE SAME WITH THE IPOS (INTERNATIONAL PEDIATRIC ORTHODONTIC SOCIETY) TO DISSEMINATE SCIENTIFIC DATA ON THE IMPORTANCE OF PREVENTION IN ORTHODONTICS.
